Summer Festivals

There is so much to look forward to this summer festival wise!

First kicking off is Ireland’s largest Gardening Event Bloom will be taking place in the Phoenix Park from Thursday 29^th of May until Monday 2^nd of June.

The much anticipated Forbidden Fruit will be taking over the grounds of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham in Dublin Saturday 31^st of May and Sunday the 1^st of June. Artists such as 2many djs, little dragon, BellX1 plus many more will take to the stage.

The Dublin Port Riverfest will be taking place Saturday 31^st of May to Monday 2^nd June 2014. There will be a jam packed programme full of entertainment and family fun.

Taste of Dublin will take over Iveagh Gardens from June 12^th to 15^th. It will be four fun filled days of summer eating, drinking and entertainment.

The Camp Viego Tapas Trail returns to Dublin and Cork this June and July. Trail runs from June 4-29 in Dublin and 6-30 July in Cork. You can immerse yourself in Spanish culture and culinary.

The Laya Healthcare Street Performance brings the world best street performance to Dublin’s Merrion Square and Cork’s St Patricks Street. Festival taking place Dublin July 11^th to the 13^th and in Cork from July 19^th to the 20^th.

Longitude Festival is taking place from Friday 18^th July to Sunday 20^th July in Marley Park. Bastille, Disclosure, Massive Attack and Rudimental are just a few of the acts playing at the festival.

The 2014 Dublin Horseshow takes place at the RDS from the 6^th to the 10^th in August.

Live at the Marquee Cork – Corks Summer Festival

The first “Live at the Marquee” took place in 2005 when Cork was the official European Capital of Culture, the festival was a massive success and returned again in 2006 with international acts Kanye West and the legendary Bob Dylan taking to the marquee stage. The event has grown from strength to strength since its launch in 2005 with major international names topping the bill year on year.

2013’s event was no exception with none other than Elton John bringing his amazing live show to Cork. The Rocket Man singer performed an impressive 26 song set recalling all his major hits. Elton was in good company with Sting, Elvis Costello and ZZ Top all taking to the stage over the course of the Cork summer festival.  2013’s line up was an impressive mix of music legends, international superstars with chart topping acts like The Wanted, Passenger and Jessie J thrown in to add even more to this amazing festival.

It is only January, however that doesn’t mean we can’t get excited about the potential line up for 2014. The provisional bill has been released and it’s another list crammed with legends of the music industry.  Dolly Parton, Tom Jones and the Bryan Adams to name but a few have been confirmed to play the Cork festival  during June and July 2014. The final line up is a long way off, but with such major industry names already announced all the signs are that 2014 could well be the best year yet. Our Group Marketing Manager Adrian Sherry and Patrick Haslett, Commercial Director Paralympics Ireland with Irish Paralympic athlete, Orla Barry were on hand to celebrate the naming of Moran & Bewley’s Hotel Group as ‘Official Hotel Partner’ for Paralympics Ireland, at Silver Springs Moran Hotel, Cork on Friday 6th of December.    

Our original involvement with Paralympics Ireland goes back to 2011 and we were a proud partner of the 2012 Irish Paralympic Team which delivered an impressive haul of 16 medals in London 2012.
Moran & Bewley’s played a key role in the preparations of Irish Paralympic athletes in the lead up to the Games and also hosted a number of showpiece events. With Irish Paralympic athletes now aiming for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, this support will again prove vital.

Christmas Corporate Night at Silver Springs Moran Hotel with Sue Jackson

The Silver Springs Moran Hotel in Cork played host to a glamorous corporate Thank You evening for their corporate clients, on Wednesday 4th December.

Invited guests included clients who have supported the Silver Springs throughout the year. Guests sipped on a range of festive cocktails from piña coladas, jasmine spitzers, & moijotos as they enjoyed tasty canapés and sang along to classic carols by the fantastic ten piece male choral group

“ The Kiltha Tones”.

Guests were then ushered into the Regency Suite to enjoy a festive feast created by Head Chef Gary Burke, to start Roast butternut squash soup crispy gnocchi, coconut milk infusion to Oak smoked duck breast with red chilli and coriander noodles, macerated plums, spring onion and sesame dressing, for mains guests enjoyed “Duo of lamb” Rosemary and garlic roasted leg with herb roasted cutlet, parsnip and thyme mousseline, duck fat roasted potato, mint and honey jus or Fillet of cod, sweet cherry tomato crust with cod brandade, lime roasted fennel, Pernod and tarragon essence. Finished off by a sweet to delight of Raspberry and chocolate mousse with crisp meringue, raspberry ripple ice-cream, Tia Maria anglaise
