Make sure to get your friends and family involved!

Finalists are listed below and also how to vote!!

1. Anita McVitie

The precious thoughts I seldom say
The love I feel for you each day
The understanding that we share
The joy I feel cause I know u care
oh how I wish that we could only share
A night at Moran’s Hotel and not have a care : )
Please make this valentines one to remember

2. Tracey Broderick

To say i love u
Would not be a lie
For u my darling
U know i would die
To go to the moran
and see a great show
and to top it all off
Have my hubby in tow

3. Jenny Bourke

You ask me why I love you
My love, I’ll try to tell you
It’s the breath of life you’ve given me
It’s the smile when I smell you
It’s the blueness of your eyes
It’s the way you say you care
It’s the way my soul is incomplete
Whenever you’re not there
It’s the way you hold my hand
The way you look into my eyes
The way you capture my attention
The way you strip me of disguise
It’s the way you make me feel complete
The way you make my smile laugh
And how so naturally you make me see
You’re my other half!!

4. Nicola Brennan

There once was a man who was fine
who brought me to the red cow to dine
He showered me with roses
give ya a clue, he’s not Moses,
of course he’s my sweet VALENTINE

5. Eoin McNamara

It was in the Red Cow when I saw a sweet lass
I just didn’t know how to approach her with class.
I took a quick drink, she had beauty and grace
Her golden brown hair swept over her face.
I plucked up the courage to say my first words
I wanna be her prince in a world full of nerds.
“You look like a princess” is what I meant to say
Instead it came out as “D’ya like Home and Away?”
Lucky for me she was a fan of the Soap
And we chatted away without having a grope!
She wasn’t that type, she wanted to wait
That was fine with me too, I knew it was fate.
Seven years later and we’re still going strong
We’ve started to talk about our wedding song.
You know that it’s love when you feel it inside
It’s a natural feeling, with nowhere to hide.

Christmas Celebrations in Cork City from Silver Springs

Posted: December 19, 2010

With less than a fortnight to go till Christmas, the festive season kicks off in style in Cork city this week with a host of Christmas related shows opening their doors. The annual Christmas pantomime starts this Wednesday 15th December in the Opera House with a showing of “Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs” the first time it has run in Cork in the 21st century. This family favorite will run from Wednesday 15th December right up to 16th January and is sure to be a hit with children of all ages, young and old.

As well as the panto Cork city is alight with the Christmas spirit with Cork cities Christmas Celebrations continuing on the Grand Parade until the 17th January and over in Mahon Point, Cork on Ice is running till the 16th January. Both of these long-running Cork Christmas events will prove to be a draw for people of all ages with the Bishop Lucey Park on the Grand Parade all especially decorated and done up into a magical “Rockin Robin” theme proving to be a fun spectacle for adults and kids alike. While over in the Beamish and Crawford Santa is available to visit from his special Grotto and if you wish to wander around and indulge in some good food checkout the Christmas markets on the Grand Parade. All of these events are running every Friday to Sunday until 17th January.

For those whose idea of Christmas is a winter wonderland checkout the Cork on Ice in Mahon Point where a large skating rink has been installed for the festive season so everyone can get their skates on and have fun.

For more grownup entertainment there is still much coming up, with the Celtic Tenors playing a show at the Cork Opera House on the 19th December starting at 8pm, and getting one in the mood for Christmas with a mixture of classic christmas songs such as White Christmas, Winter Wonderland and The Christmas Song, the one that begins with “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire”, as well as their usual blend of Irish, classical and folk songs.

Here at the Moran Silver Springs Hotel in  Cork we not only supply an ideal comfortable and accommodating base from which to sample some of these Cork Christmas events but we are also getting in on the Christmas celebrations with a special night of entertainment lined up for country music fans. On December 21st Silver Springs Moran Hotel, in association with JW promotions and C103, will be the Cork base for the nationwide December/Christmas tour of “A Night with the Stars”, an extravaganza featuring the best in Irish country music stars. Among the stars performing at our Cork based hotel, will be Ray Lynam, Brian Coll, Mick Flavin, Shaun Loughrey, Frank Mc Caffrey, Nathan Carter, Brendan Quinn and the Benn Sisters. The show starts at 8pm and finishes at 11pm with the doors opening at 7:30pm and the tickets, priced at 25 euros, will be available at the reception. And while there will be no food or drinks served with this show and the late bar and DJ will be closed for the night it promises to be great night.

No matter what your taste or idea of Christmas is there is sure to be events and shows to note in Cork city from your Cork base, in the run up to this festive holiday.
